New Westminster is home to some of the most beautiful heritage properties in the Lower Mainland, and it’s always a privilege when we’re brought in to help bring one of these homes back to life

This particular project is a full exterior restoration on a century-old home tucked into a lush corner of the city. With intricate woodwork, detailed railings, and layers of historical character, the home is both a dream and a challenge for any painter.

Restoration in Progress

Once structural repairs were in place, we got to work on the detailed prep. The balusters and handrails alone require hours of careful sanding, filling, and priming. The decking and trim are also being fully overhauled to match the level of craftsmanship this home deserves.

From the front porch to the upper rear balcony, every inch of wood is being carefully restored to both preserve the charm and protect the structure for decades to come.

What Makes Heritage Work Unique

Painting a heritage home isn’t just about colour — it’s about respecting the architecture and working with materials that have stood the test of time. This home still has original siding, and much of the detailing around the windows and porch railings has been hand-crafted.

We take extra care in matching paint finishes and staying true to the original aesthetic while using modern primers and coatings to extend the life of the finish.

Looking Ahead

The entire restoration is expected to take around six weeks, weather permitting. When finished, the home will have a refreshed yet timeless exterior that honours its heritage and stands strong for years to come.

Stay tuned for the finished photos — we can’t wait to show off the transformation.
