Five Pool Deck Color Blends That Stay Cool Underfoot
Heat is the first design constraint on a Gulf Coast pool deck. Darker blends can run twenty degrees hotter in direct August sun, which is the difference between lounging and sprinting to the shade.
Light sand and shell-white blends reflect the most heat and read the cleanest against turquoise water. Driftwood grey hides tracked-in sand. Warm tan with a fine white fleck is the most forgiving with pollen and rain spotting.
Whatever blend you choose, ask for a texture sample in your own sunlight before you commit — colors shift dramatically between a showroom board and a sun-washed deck.
